Education
for Ministry, affectionately known
as EfM, is a program of theological education-at-a-distance of the School of Theology of the University of the South.
Students sign up one year at a time for this four-year
program. It covers the basics of a theological education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, and theology.
Students meet regularly, usually once a week, in seminars under the guidance of trained mentors.
The program grants a certificate at the completion of the
four years and 18 Continuing Education Units for each year's work.
EfM is currently offered in the following
East Carolina parishes: St. John's/
Holy Cross/ Good Shepherd, Wilmington - Mondays 6pm Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hertford Church of the Servant,
Wilmington St. James Episcopal Church, Wilmington - Mondays 6:45pm Christ Episcopal Church, New Bern St.
John's Episcopal Church, Fayetteville St Stephen's, Goldsboro
If you're interested in starting or joining an EfM group in
East Carolina, please contact us.
EfM now offers an online course for those who cannot
attend a weekly face-to-face group, because of time constraints, family demands, or the lack of a local EfM group.
